Overview of the textile industry chain

Huayi's World

The textile industry involves the process of converting fiber materials such as cotton, wool, polyester, silk, etc. into various fabrics and textiles.

The textile industry chain has a high degree of correlation between upstream and downstream:

Upstream: natural and man-made fiber supply;

Midstream: spinning, weaving, printing, dyeing, embroidery and other processing technologies;

Downstream: clothing industry, home textiles, and industrial textiles.

Today, Huayi editor will explore with you the green raw material production and innovative fabrics in the upstream of the textile industry.

Green raw materials and innovative fabrics

Huayi's World

When we talk about pollution in the textile industry, we often overlook the potential environmental problems in the upstream production of raw materials, such as excessive use of chemical pesticides, excessive water use, soil erosion, etc.

As people pay more and more attention to green ecological balance and resource sustainability, new raw material planting and innovative fabric production are gradually coming into the public eye

.

Organic Cotton:

  • No use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers;

  • Reduce water consumption during the planting process by 91%;

  • Reduce soil acidification by 70%;

  • Reduce soil erosion by 26%.

Hemp fiber:

  • Natural and sustainable fiber raw materials;

  • No need for large amounts of pesticides or fertilizers;

  • It requires less water, and its deep root system effectively improves soil quality and prevents soil erosion;

  • Excellent durability.

Innovative fabrics

Recycled polyamide:

  • Made by recycling and reprocessing discarded polyamide (nylon) fiber fabrics, such as old clothes, bed sheets, curtains, etc.

  • It also has good strength, durability and wear resistance, and can be widely used in a variety of textiles, such as clothing, luggage, outdoor products, etc.

  • Case: Bosideng actively promotes the use of 3D down fabrics made from recycled polyamide.

Recycled Polyester:

  • By recycling and reusing discarded polyester products, such as plastic bottles, and reprocessing them into new fiber materials;

  • Save oil picking, reduce air pollution, and be more environmentally friendly;

  • Case: In September 2019, Uniqlo announced that it would use recycled polyester fibers from plastic bottles to make clothing, such as quick-drying clothes, sun-protective clothes, and polar fleece.

In this article, we learned about the green attempts of the upstream textile industry to reduce environmental pollution and other problems. In the next article, we will take a closer look at textile processing and production. Stay tuned.
